How it works

From website signals to prioritized, verified SEO work

WindspeedSEO runs a six-stage loop — connect, measure, prioritize, act, verify, learn — on a recurring cadence. This page walks through what happens at each stage, what the system decides on its own, and where a human is deliberately kept in the path.

Why a loop rather than a project

SEO work fails in a predictable way. Somebody commissions an audit, the audit produces a large document, a portion of it gets implemented, and nobody measures what happened. Six months later the site has drifted and the document is out of date.

A loop avoids that failure mode because nothing is ever “finished”. The measurement baseline is always current, the prioritized list is always short, and every completed change is measured against the period that follows it. What you lose is the satisfying feeling of a big deliverable. What you gain is a site that does not silently regress.

The six stages

  1. Connect

Read-only Google Search Console and Google Analytics 4. PageSpeed and CrUX need no setup. Managed Automation adds a WordPress connection through a companion plugin using separate machine credentials for provisioning and publishing. Every connection can be revoked from your account, and revoking one stops the corresponding data collection immediately.

  2. Measure

A baseline is built across search performance, analytics behavior, technical health, tracked keywords, competitors, backlinks and AI visibility, and then kept current. Every value is timestamped so you always know how fresh it is. Cheap and cached sources are used before paid providers, which is what keeps the monthly price flat.

  3. Prioritize

Change detection turns raw movement into candidate findings. Scoring ranks them by size, commercial relevance, evidence strength and expected effort. The output is a short list with the evidence attached, not an audit with two hundred equal-weight items.

  4. Act

On Insights, the recommendation goes to your team with its supporting evidence and affected URLs. On Managed Automation, content opportunities become generated and published blog posts, and landing-page, technical and on-page work becomes assigned developer work with controlled, short-lived WordPress access.

  5. Verify

Deterministic validators run before anything is called complete. Machine-checkable requirements are checked by machine; anything else is marked for manual QA. Only verified work appears to you as completed work.

  6. Learn

The next period measures what happened after each change. Results feed back into prioritization, and the report separates “too early to judge” from “this moved”.

What is automated and what is not

Automated

  • Scheduled data collection from every connected source
  • Change detection and regression alerting
  • Scoring, ranking and sequencing of findings
  • Blog content and featured image generation (Managed)
  • Work generation, assignment and notification (Managed)
  • Deterministic QA validation and report assembly

Human

  • Landing-page implementation
  • Technical and on-page changes to a production site
  • Manual QA where a requirement cannot be machine-verified
  • Editorial judgement on sensitive or brand-critical content
  • Any decision to override or reassign work

More on the automation model

The honest limits of the loop

Search engines control results, competitors act independently, and demand is seasonal. No workflow changes that. What a disciplined loop does change is the failure modes you control: regressions get caught early, work actually ships, and you can tell afterwards whether it helped.

WindspeedSEO also holds a measurement discipline that is easy to skip — a change that is too recent to evaluate is reported as too recent, not counted as a win. That costs a little optimism in month one and buys a lot of credibility by month six.

Frequently asked questions

How does WindspeedSEO work end to end?

It connects to your read-only Google Search Console and Analytics 4 properties, builds and maintains a measurement baseline across search, analytics, technical, keyword, competitor, backlink and AI-visibility signals, scores what changed against business relevance and evidence strength, produces a short prioritized list, and then either hands that to your team or executes and verifies it depending on your plan. Outcomes feed back into the next cycle.

How often does the loop run?

Continuously, but not uniformly. Different signals refresh on different cadences: Google data follows Google’s own availability lag, technical checks run often enough to catch a regression within days, and paid intelligence is refreshed on a bounded schedule because each call has a real cost. Reporting uses a 28-day comparison window.

What decisions does the automation make on its own?

Data collection, change detection, scoring and sequencing are automated. So is blog content generation on Managed Automation. What is not automated is any judgement about whether a risky production change should ship — landing-page, technical and on-page work is executed by a human and verified before it counts.

Where does the data come from?

Search Console and Analytics 4 for first-party search and behavior data, PageSpeed and CrUX for performance, public crawling and external observation for technical findings, and bounded paid providers for keyword, SERP, competitor and backlink intelligence that cannot be observed from your own property. Cached and free sources are used before paid ones by design.

How is work prioritized?

Each finding is scored on four axes: the size and direction of the change, the commercial relevance of the affected pages and queries in your analytics, the strength of the supporting evidence, and the expected effort. Items that are significant, relevant, well-evidenced and tractable rise. The methodology page goes further into the reasoning.

What does verification actually check?

Deterministic, objectively answerable things first: is the change live, does the URL return the expected status, is the canonical correct, is the content indexable, does the published article exist where it should. Requirements that genuinely cannot be machine-checked are marked for manual QA rather than assumed to have passed.

Does the system learn from what worked?

Yes, at the level of outcome tracking. Each shipped change is measured against the following period, and that record informs how similar findings are ranked next time. It is not a claim that the software predicts search results — it is a record of what has and has not moved anything on your specific site.
