Connect Google Search Console for read-only search performance data

Google Search Console is the only first-party record of how your website actually performs in Google search. WindspeedSEO connects to it with read-only access and uses it as the backbone of every trend, comparison and finding in the product.

Why this connection comes first

Every other SEO data source is an approximation. Third-party keyword tools estimate volume, rank trackers sample a personalized result page, and traffic estimators model what they cannot observe. Search Console is the exception: it is Google telling you what actually happened between its results pages and your website.

That is why WindspeedSEO builds its baseline here and treats external intelligence as supporting context rather than as the primary record.

See what the data becomes

What WindspeedSEO does with it

Trends and comparison. Every headline metric is shown against the previous 28 days, which is what turns a number into a signal.

Attribution. When a headline metric moves, the change is decomposed to the pages and queries responsible, so the next question has an answer.

Opportunity detection. High-impression, low-click-through queries usually point at a title and description problem rather than a ranking problem, and that distinction is worth a great deal of wasted effort.

Cannibalisation checks. Where two of your pages trade positions for the same query, Search Console data is what exposes it.

Verification. After a change ships, the same data measures whether anything moved — and says so honestly when the change is still too recent to judge.

Integrations live inside the WindspeedSEO application at app.windspeedseo.com, after you have an account. Nothing on this public marketing website reads your Google data.

Frequently asked questions

What data does WindspeedSEO read from Google Search Console?

Search performance data for the property you connect: queries, landing pages, clicks, impressions, click-through rate and average position, with the country and device breakdowns Google exposes. That is used to build trends, detect movement and attribute changes to specific pages and queries.

What level of access does the Search Console connection request?

Read-only. WindspeedSEO does not need to submit sitemaps, request indexing, change settings or modify anything in your property, so it does not ask for permission to do any of those things.

How do I connect Search Console to WindspeedSEO?

From inside your WindspeedSEO account, you authorize the connection through Google’s standard consent flow and select the property to link. You need to already have access to that property in Search Console — WindspeedSEO cannot grant you access to a property you do not control.

How far back does the historical data go?

As far as Google exposes through its API for your property, which gives you trend context from the first day rather than starting a baseline from zero. Search Console data also carries Google’s own reporting lag of a couple of days, and WindspeedSEO timestamps figures rather than implying they are live.

Can I connect more than one Search Console property?

Each monitored website corresponds to its property. Insights covers one website in this version; Managed Automation covers one primary website with additional active sites at $199/month each on the same organization subscription.

What happens if I disconnect Search Console?

Data collection from that property stops immediately, and trends stop updating. You can also revoke access directly from your Google account. Handling of data already collected is described in the privacy policy.

Why not just use Search Console directly?

You should keep using it — it remains the system of record. What it does not do is join its data to analytics behavior, technical health, competitor movement and backlink change, or rank the resulting findings by commercial value. That joining and ranking is the work WindspeedSEO does on top.
